Ultrasonic blood flow measurement in haemodialysis.

چکیده
A 5-megacycle Doppler flow meter, calibrated in-vitro, was found to give a linear response to blood flow in the ranges commonly encountered in haemodialysis. With this, blood flow through artificial kidneys could be measured simply and with a clinically acceptable error. The method is safe, as blood lines do not have to be punctured or disconnected and hence there is no risk of introducing infection. Besides its value as a research tool the flow meter is useful in evaluating new artificial kidneys. Suitably modified it could form the basis of an arterial flow alarm system.

Optimized Blood Volume Monitoring during Hemodialysis Procedure based on Ultrasonic Speed Measurement
Fast reduction of blood water volume due to ultra-filtration via hemodialysis machine and critical threshold of blood water volume can result in clinical complications such as hypotension. When blood water volume reduces during hemodialysis process, the concentration of blood forming elements will increase. One of the methods for the monitoring of the concentration changes is ultrasonic speed m...
متن کاملTissue blood flow measurement by laser Doppler technique
Measurement of blood flow and the effects of different factors on tissue blood flow are important fields of research in physiology and pharmacology. So far, different methods have been innovated, using laser light is the Last one. In this article history, principles and specifications of laser technique along with its advantages and disadvantages ( in comparison with other methods) are revie...
متن کاملA simple and novel method for acoustic streaming power measurement of ultrasonic horn
Ultrasonic horn with transfer of acoustic wave into an aqueous solution results in unique properties. When, transfer of sound wave into a liquid results in liquid movement in the direction of wave propagation which gradually loses its energy due to the viscous friction. This wave motion induces a flow which is known as acoustic streaming or micro-streaming. In this article, a simple innovative ...
متن کاملDesign and construction of ultrasonic Doppler transducers for blood flow measurement using Finite Element Analysis
This paper describes the design and construction of two ultrasonic Doppler transducers using Finite Element Analysis for blood flow measurement. These transducers were constructed using as sensing element, commercial 8 MHz PIC255 piezoceramic discs, EPO-TEK 301 and Rexolite 4422 as backing and matching layer materials respectively. The objective of this work was to design and construct two sing...
متن کاملObservation of microbubbles during standard dialysis treatments
BACKGROUND The infusion of microbubbles as a side effect of haemodialysis was repeatedly demonstrated in recent publications, but the knowledge on the source of microbubbles and on microbubble formation is scarce. METHODS Microbubbles in the range of 10-500 µm were measured by a non-invasive bubble counter based on a pulsed ultrasonic Doppler system in a non-interventional study of a single c...
